The crisis is structural - water escapes,
soil erodes, livelihoods unravel, migration begins!
Rain now comes in short, intense bursts—flooding one region while another dries. Less than 10% is conserved; the
rest e scapes. Water p er p erson has reduced f rom ~ 5 500 m³ to <1300 m³ since independence. Nearly a t hird of
India’s land is degrading. As aquifers drain and soils erode, food security is at risk. If rural India falters, cities
cannot carry the weight
